Chennai: In what may spell trouble for former Tamil Nadu minister Dr Manikandan, a well-known actress has lodged a complaint against the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader for allegedly 'cheating, blackmailing and sexually exploiting' her for the past five years. 

The 36-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with the Chennai police and demanded strong action against the former AIADMK minister. The actor has alleged that she was in a relationship with the former Information and Technology minister in 2017 and that he 'cheated' by promising and later refusing to marry her.

Manikandan 'forced her' to abort their child: Complaint

In her complaint, a copy of which is with Times Now, the woman alleges that the former minister threatened to leak her intimate pictures online if she goes and files a complaint against him. The woman has also alleged that Manikandan sexually exploited her and when she got pregnant, 'forced her' to abort their child. According to the complaint, he is also accused of 'threatening to kill her' by hiring contract killers.

According to local reports, the actor has submitted to Chennai Police, the photographs proving her relationship with Manikandan and documents supporting the threats he issued.

Dr Manikandan was one of the 18 Tamil Nadu MLAs who aligned with TTV Dinakaran against the then chief minister of Tamil Nadu Edapaddi K Palaniswami. He lost his ministerial berth after the incident. A statement from Manikandan on the allegations levelled against him is awaited.
