Sri lanka : The economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka continues to deepen. Gotabaya Rajapaksa did not even resign from the presidency and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe became the acting President. Meanwhile, protesters gathered outside his office in Colombo. Wickremesinghe gave complete freedom to the army. Tear gas was used to control the crowd in which one of the protesters died of suffocation.

The man fainted due to suffocation. After this he was admitted to a private hospital where he died within a short time. It is being told that Gotabaya Rajapaksa has reached Maldives from Sri Lanka and he can go to Singapore from there soon.

The protesters had entered the Prime Minister's residence and were demanding that Ranil Wickremesinghe resign from his post. But he was made the acting president. In such a situation, the protesters became more aggressive and surrounded the Prime Minister's Office. Protesters barged into his office. At the same time, he also took over the national TV channel and took the channel off air.

After becoming the acting President, Ranil Wickremesinghe imposed emergency and gave a free hand to the army. Curfew has been imposed in the western provinces. Despite the emergency, a large number of protesters have taken to the streets. They demand that PM Wickremesinghe and Gotabaya Rajapaksa should resign on Wednesday itself. Rajapaksa had also promised that he would resign on Wednesday but till now he has not done so.
