There is a apprehension of danger from radical elements during the Kanwar Yatra, so the state governments have been instructed to increase security.

In this advisory, many states including UP, Uttarakhand have been instructed to increase the security system. In view of the danger, instructions have also been given to increase the security of trains. According to the advisory, a large number of policemen should be deployed to deal with any kind of danger during the Kanwar Yatra. Even before this, in view of the apprehension of huge crowd of devotees in many cities, strict monitoring is being done through CCTV cameras, drones and monitoring of social media. At the same time, anti-terrorist squads have also been deployed along with the bomb disposal squad in Haridwar. Haridwar and the surrounding areas have been divided into several zones and sectors, with the deployment of around 10,000 police personnel to make impeccable security arrangements.
