Kanwar Yatra 2025 / Do not change the name of the Dhaba- Muslims are also proud of their religion- Baba Ramdev

The controversy over changing the names of dhabas has deepened before the Kanwar Yatra. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev said that the ancestors of Muslims were also Hindus, changing the names is improper. Hiding the name is wrong religiously and practically. He appealed for unity and respect for all religions.

Kanwar Yatra 2025: Preparations are in full swing for the Kanwar Yatra starting next week. During this time, many dhaba and hotel operators change the names of their establishments, on which yoga guru Swami Ramdev has taken a tough stand. While talking to reporters in Haridwar, he said, "The ancestors of all Muslims are also Hindus, so there is no point in changing the name. Every person should do business with his real name. If people want, they will come to their dhaba or hotel and eat food. Changing the name is not only practically wrong, but also inappropriate from a religious point of view."

Practice of changing names in controversies

In the last few years, during the Kanwar Yatra, many such cases have come to light in which dhaba and hotel operators did business by changing the names of their establishments. This practice has given rise to controversies many times. Recently, the owner of 'Pandit Ji Vaishno Dhaba' located on the Delhi-Dehradun Kanwar route in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, closed his dhaba on Thursday after the controversy escalated. Police have registered an FIR against five people in this case and started searching for them.

SHO Dinesh Chandra of Muzaffarnagar's Nai Mandi police station said that a case has been registered against Dhaba owner Diksha Sharma, operator Sanawar and three other people for beating the Dhaba's former manager Dharmendra. Diksha Sharma is the owner of the Dhaba, while Sanawar used to run it. Dharmendra was suspected of leaking information about the Dhaba, due to which he was beaten up.

Ramdev's statement on religion and pride

Swami Ramdev gave a clear opinion on this issue and said, "Just as we are proud of being Hindus, all Muslims should be proud of their religion. Doing business by changing names is neither moral nor practical." He stressed that everyone should be proud of their identity and should reveal it instead of hiding it.

Ramdev also spoke on Marathi-Hindi controversy

Swami Ramdev also gave his reaction on the Marathi and Hindi language controversy going on in Maharashtra. He said, "All the languages of the country, including Marathi, should be respected. But Hindus should not fight among themselves on the basis of language, class or sect. This harms Sanatan Dharma and national unity." Giving the message of unity and harmony, he appealed to everyone to promote mutual brotherhood.
