India-Pakistan Tension: The horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a tourist spot in Kashmir, on 22 April 2025 has once again fuelled the flames of tension between India and Pakistan. Many civilians, including tourists and security personnel, were killed in this attack. India has blamed Pakistan-backed terrorist organizations for the conspiracy of this attack. In response, the central government has taken tough steps like suspending the Indus Water Treaty and limiting diplomatic relations with Pakistan.

Taking a tough stand on this incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "The terrorist attack will definitely be avenged. Our government is fully committed to this." After this statement, security agencies in the country are on high alert and strictness has been increased in the border states.

Preparation for comprehensive mock drill for civil security

The Home Ministry has given instructions to organize civil defense mock drills across the country on May 7. Under this, Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar has directed all the districts to organize mock drills, so that better coordination can be established between the general public and the security forces in any emergency.

SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) personnel have started preparing for a mock drill at Dal Lake in Srinagar. This exercise is being conducted to deal with situations like terrorist attack or natural disaster.

Security system tightened in Kashmir

Deployment of security forces has been increased in border areas like Rajouri, Poonch, Kupwara in Kashmir Valley. Searching of vehicles, checking of suspects and patrolling have been intensified. International response: UNSC emergency meeting and strong statement from UN

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held "closed-door discussions" at the request of Pakistan. Although no official statement was issued after the meeting, the United Nations independently strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and demanded that the culprits be brought to justice.

Ceasefire violated again on the border
