Monsoon has arrived late in the capital Delhi 7 times in the last 11 years. Last year, the monsoon had knocked with a delay of 16 days from the expected date. However, this time the monsoon has been predicted to arrive on time. This time also the monsoon winds made rapid progress at first but, later the winds weakened slightly. At this time too, the monsoon has reached the western coasts. Mahesh Palawat, a meteorologist with the weather monitoring organization Skymet, says that due to the absence of any low pressure area on the east coast, the progress of the monsoon has not been as expected. But, in the next three-four days, the effect of Monsoon will be seen in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

Drizzle and strong winds expected to drop mercury

The people of Delhi are now looking forward to get relief from the scorching summer. The Meteorological Department has forecast that during the next six days, there will be intermittent weather activities like drizzle, clouds and strong wind. Due to these, the mercury is expected to fall by seven degrees in the next six days. The people of Delhi are currently facing the heaviest summer of the season. On Monday, Delhi's Standard Observatory Safdarjung recorded the day's maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees above normal. Whereas, the minimum temperature was 31.6 degree Celsius. This is also four degrees above normal.
