SCO Summit 2025: A new chapter of global diplomacy was seen on the platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China. In this summit, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of host China Xi Jinping were seen together. In the group photo session organized during the summit, the leaders of all the member countries of the SCO were present on one stage, which attracted global attention.

Warm welcome and diplomatic meetings

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the summit venue, he was welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. During this, Xi Jinping's wife Peng Liyuan was also with him. After the photo session, PM Modi shook hands with Xi Jinping and his wife. The warmth and happiness was clearly visible on the faces of both the leaders during this meeting.

The presence of the Presidents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan between PM Modi and President Putin in the photo session made this moment more special. After this, PM Modi met the leaders of Maldives, Nepal and many other countries, which underlined India's active diplomacy.

SCO's importance on the global stage

This SCO summit was also important because the world's major powers were present on one platform. In particular, the absence of US President Donald Trump brought this summit into more discussion. After the US recently imposed 50 percent tariff on India, this summit proved to be an important turning point for global diplomacy.

India-China's growing closeness and America's concern

For some time now, the growing closeness between India and China has been a topic of discussion on the global stage. The meeting of PM Modi and Xi Jinping in this summit further strengthened these relations. However, this is becoming a cause of concern for America. America is particularly uncomfortable with the oil trade between India and Russia.

Recently, America had accused India of buying cheap oil from Russia and making profits from it. On this, India gave a strong reply and defended its policies. India made it clear that it will take independent decisions to meet its energy needs. This platform of SCO Summit provided India with an opportunity to further strengthen its diplomatic position.
