SCO Summit 2025 / PM Modi's tuning with Jinping-Putin was such that Pak PM Shahbaz kept watching

Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif was completely ignored at the SCO summit in Tianjin, China. PM Modi and Putin met warmly, while positive talks were also held with Jinping. Modi kept a distance from Sharif, which is being considered a big insult to Pakistan.

SCO Summit 2025: During the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, China, a picture has emerged which put Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in an uncomfortable position. While a warm and cordial atmosphere was seen between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in this conference, Shahbaz Sharif was completely ignored. Especially, PM Modi and Putin did not even look at Shahbaz, which clearly reflected Pakistan's neglect on the global stage.

Modi-Putin-Jinping trio showed solidarity

During the conference, there was a conversation of about two minutes between PM Modi, Putin and Jinping, in which all three leaders were seen smiling. This meeting took place when the three leaders were moving towards the stage for the family photo of the SCO members. During this, Putin and Modi greeted each other warmly by hugging each other. This scene became more special when this meeting took place just before the bilateral meeting of Modi and Putin, which was scheduled after the plenary session.

On the other hand, Shahbaz Sharif kept watching the entire incident silently. This was the first time after Operation Sindoor that PM Modi and Shahbaz Sharif were face to face, but Modi kept a complete distance from Shahbaz. This diplomatic oversight was not only uncomfortable for Pakistan, but also reflects India's strong position in regional diplomacy.

India's view in SCO

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Sunday, "The Prime Minister will address the plenary session of the summit, where he will outline India's view to promote regional cooperation under the SCO." He also informed that PM Modi will have a bilateral meeting with Russian President Putin, after which he will leave for India. India has always seen SCO as a platform for regional stability, economic cooperation and solidarity against terrorism.

Positive progress in India-China relations

During the summit, bilateral talks were also held between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two leaders welcomed the positive progress in bilateral relations since their last meeting in Kazan during the BRICS Summit in October 2024. They emphasized that India and China are development partners, not rivals. The two leaders stressed the need for stable relations based on mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity.

Modi and Jinping said, "Our differences should not turn into disputes. A stable India-China relationship is not only essential for the progress of the two countries, but it is also important for a multipolar world and multipolar Asia in the 21st century."
