Pushkar Singh Dhami may have been elected as its leader by the BJP Legislature Party and became the 12th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, but within six months he will have to become a member of the Legislative Assembly. After being elected the leader of his legislature party, the big question is that from which seat he will now contest. In the last government in the state, the BJP had made Dhami the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand at the last moment. However, during his tenure of six months, he had made the identity of Dhakad Dhami by his work.

During his short tenure, he took many important decisions including the withdrawal of the Devasthanam Bill. Who will now take oath as CM for the second time on March 23, but under Article 164 (4) of the Constitution, he will have to take the membership of the house within six months. According to sources, Dhami may contest from Didihat assembly seat. Bishan Singh Chufal of BJP has won this seat.

However, five other MLAs are also ready to give up the seat for him. The five MLAs who have so far announced to leave their seats for them. Among them are Kailash Gahatodi, MLA from Champawat, Mohan Singh Mehra of Jageshwar, Dr. Mohan Singh Bisht of Lalkuan, Pradeep Batra of Roorkee and independent MLA from Khanpur Umesh Kumar. Apart from this, there is talk of him contesting from some other assembly seats as well.

MLAs started lobbying for Dhami

Pushkar Singh Dhami lost the election from Khatima assembly constituency, but BJP MLAs who won even after his defeat in the assembly elections started lobbying for Dhami to be made the CM. Along with giving up their seats, the BJP MLAs had also talked about handing over the command of Uttarakhand to Dhami again in front of the central leadership.
