West Bengal / NRC and anti-citizenship law ad unconstitutional, Mamta misuses government money: Governor

Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has termed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's advertisement of NRC and anti-citizenship law as unconstitutional. Dhankhar said at the press conference on Sunday that the chief minister misused government funds for the advertisement. The Trinamool government has said in the advertisement that NRC and citizenship law will not be allowed to be implemented in Bengal.

The governor said, "How can the head of state give public money to the media for advertising against the NRC and the citizenship law?" I have courtesy told him (Mamta) that this advertisement is completely unconstitutional. I have requested him to withdraw the advertisement. ''

'Bengal's law and order situation is very bad'

Dhankar said, "This is not the time to do politics." We all should follow the law. We cannot break away from our responsibilities. The law and order situation of the state is very bad. Government property is being arbitrarily and brutally damaged. Fear has been instilled in the minds of people belonging to certain sections of the society.

Furious demonstrations took place in Bengal, buses and trains were burnt

Protesters had lodged protests against the citizenship law and NRC in several districts including Kolkata, Murshidabad, Howrah in Bengal. Recently, railway stations, government offices were ransacked and arson. Violent mob jammed National Highway 34 and set fire to 10 buses. 5 empty trains were burnt in a loco shed. After this, Chief Minister Mamata had asked the protesters to protest, but do not take the law in hand.
