Earlier, Malaysia had seized PIA's aircraft at Kuala Lumpur airport in the year 2021 on the same issue. The plane was later released on diplomatic assurance of payment of dues. The seized PIA aircraft was brought back to Pakistan on January 27 with 173 passengers and crew members.
