Amritsar: Bollywood superstar Sunny Deol, who's now also a Lok Sabha MP, having won on a BJP ticket from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, has weighed in on the ongoing farmer's protests in the country and their numerous grievances against the central government's 'Three Farm Acts' bill. However, the actor has vouched for an amicable resolution of the dispute between the farmers and government, imploring others to not interfere, and even claiming that there are those who're trying to take advantage of the situation for their own benefit.

Posting an official statement (in Hindi) of his views about the farmer's protests on social media, Sunny Deol wrote (translated to English): “I request the whole world that it is a matter between our farmers and the government. Do not come between them, because both will find a way after discussions. I know that many people want to take advantage of the situation and are creating problems. They are not thinking of farmers. They may have their own agenda.”

Through his statement, Sunny paaji also distanced himself from actor-turned-activist Deep Siddhu, who had campaigned for the Ghayal actor in the 2019 elections and has now become a figurehead of the farmer's protests, with his pro-Khalistan slogans creating a furore and coming under heavy criticism.

Commenting on Deep Siddhu and his recent statement, Sunny Deol added in his tweet, “Deep Sidhu, who was with me during the election has not been with me for a long time and whatever he is speaking, he is saying on his own. I am in no way related to his activities. I stand with my party and farmers and will always be with farmers. Our government always thinks of the betterment of farmers and I am sure that the government will ensure the right outcome after holding talks with farmers.

On the work front, Sunny Deol will next be seen in Apne 2, the sequel to 2007's Apne, with his legendary father, Dharmendra, and younger brother, Bobby Deol, also returning for the second installment, which will see Anil Sharma usurp the Director's mantle once again. Sunny's son, Karan Deol, is the new addition to the franchise.
