PM Modi At SRCC Centenary: Alumni Have Made A Mark In Every Field

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the centenary celebrations of the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in the institution's 100-year journey. During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the 100th anniversary of SRCC isn't just a milestone for the college but a momentous occasion for the entire educational landscape of the country. He noted that the centenary journey of SRCC stands as an example of excellence, while reflecting on the achievements of the college's former students, the Prime Minister remarked that while SRCC alumni might not always be seen as traditional dhurandhars or titans, they've undoubtedly made a significant mark or dhoom in every field they've entered. He praised the multiple generations associated with SRCC who gathered together for this historic event.

Reflections on the 2013 Visit

The Prime Minister recalled his previous visit to the SRCC campus, which took place on 6 February 2013. At that time, he was serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Returning to address the youth after a gap of 13 and a half years, he shared insights from his earlier speech. He mentioned that during his 2013 address, many people expected him to launch a series of allegations against the then-government. However, he chose not to use the platform for political criticism. Instead, he focused on presenting a vision and discussing positive aspects for the future of the country. He highlighted that even then, his approach was centered on constructive dialogue and a forward-looking perspective.

The Legacy of SRCC

Shri Ram College of Commerce, an integral part of Delhi University, stands as one of India's premier institutions for higher education. It's recognized as a specialized center for studies in Commerce, Economics, and Management. The institution was founded in 1926 by the renowned industrialist and philanthropist Sir Shri Ram. Over the past century, the college has been instrumental in nurturing generations of scholars, professionals, administrators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and nation-builders. The Prime Minister acknowledged this rich history and the role the college has played in strengthening the foundation of the society through education.

Teacher's Day and Recent Engagements

The centenary celebrations coincided with Teacher's Day, a day dedicated to honoring the contributions of teachers and educationists in building generations and society. The Prime Minister had previously engaged with the college's leadership earlier this year. In April, he met with the Governing Body and a delegation from the college at his residence to mark the beginning of the 100th anniversary. During that meeting, he also released a special commemorative postage stamp to honor the college's century of service to the nation. The Prime Minister concluded by reiterating the importance of SRCC's journey and its continued impact on India's growth and development.
