Cyclone Tauktae / PM Modi will visit Gujarat to review the situation

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Diu on Wednesday to take stock of the damage caused by cyclone Toute. During this time, PM Modi will conduct an aerial survey and thereafter will hold a review meeting in Ahmedabad.

The Prime Minister will leave Delhi at 9:30 am and reach Bhavnagar directly. From here, he will conduct an aerial survey of Una, Diu, Zafarabad and Mahuva areas by helicopter and take stock of the damage.

Let us know that at least seven people lost their lives in the incidents related to cyclone Toute in Gujarat. At the same time, coastal areas have suffered extensive damage due to toutes. Electric poles and trees were uprooted. Many houses and roads have also been damaged.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that more than 16,000 houses were damaged due to the cyclonic storm, while more than 40 thousand trees and more than a thousand electric poles were uprooted due to it. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that cyclone 'Toute' weakened after hitting the Gujarat coast between Diu and Una in Saurashtra region on Monday midnight.

The IMD said that on Tuesday morning it formed as a "very severe cyclonic storm" near Amreli in Saurashtra region and later in the afternoon it turned into a cyclonic storm.
