During this, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed hope that India will use its influence over Russia to end the war. Modi told reporters here after the bilateral talks that he discussed the Ukrainian crisis and appealed for an "immediate ceasefire" in Ukraine.

"We appealed for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and to return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the crisis," the prime minister said, expressing hope that India would use its influence over Russia. He asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to "end the war and stop the killings". "My message is very clear that Putin has to stop this war and stop killing people," he said. Obviously I expect India to put pressure on Russia in this conversation as well.

PM Modi arrived in Copenhagen on Tuesday and held talks with Fredriksson to take forward bilateral ties. Delegation level talks were also held and some MoUs were signed. In a statement, Modi said he was happy that "significant developments" have taken place in various sectors, especially in renewable energy, health, ports, shipping, circular economy and water management. He also informed that there are more than 200 Danish companies operating in various sectors in India. "These companies are finding ease of doing business in India and benefiting from economic reforms," ​​he said.

According to the statement, "Both sides reviewed progress in the Green Strategic Partnership. They also discussed our extensive cooperation in the areas of skill development, climate, renewable energy, Arctic, P2P relations and other issues. In a tweet after arriving in the Danish capital, Modi said, "I am very grateful to PM Fredriksson for the warm welcome. This visit will go a long way in further strengthening India-Denmark ties.
