PM Narendra Modi Lumbini Visit: Ever since Sher Bahadur Deuba took over the command of Nepal in July last year, it was being speculated that friendship with India would increase during his time. Before him, KP Sharma Oli, who was PM, was considered close to China, while Deuba has been in favor of equal relations with all countries. Apart from this, he has also been close to India. The speculations made for better relations a year ago are now proving to be true and India's PM Narendra Modi has an important role in this. He is on a visit to Nepal today on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. During this, he will meet PM Sher Bahadur Deuba at Lumbini, the birthplace of Mahatma Buddha. Earlier he reached Kushinagar, where he paid homage at the Mahaparinirvana Sthal of Mahatma Buddha.

Why PM Modi has gone to Nepal only on Buddha Purnima

However, there is also an important question that why has PM Narendra Modi chosen the day of Buddha Purnima for Nepal visit? In fact, PM Narendra Modi, who specializes in giving big messages through symbols, knows how Mahatma Buddha is a common heritage of Nepal and India. Nepal has been a neighboring country as well as a cultural partner of India and has been very close. Although in the last few years, Nepal has grown closer to China under different governments, but India's influence is still deep on it. To maintain this effect and to give the message of cultural unity, PM Modi has chosen this opportunity. Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal, his place of enlightenment was Gaya in Bihar and he attained Nirvana in Kushinagar, UP.

Message given from the inauguration of Kushinagar Airport

Apart from this, Buddhism was spread in the world during the era of Magadha Empire and Emperor Ashoka sent Buddhist monks to spread it in the countries from Sri Lanka to East Asia. Through this ancient heritage, India and Nepal are trying to come closer in the current global politics. PM Modi also inaugurated the Kushinagar International Airport in October last year, which is considered important for the Buddha Circuit. Let us inform that the Government of India has started the work of developing Buddha Circuit and through this airport it will be easy for people from all over the world to reach the places of Mahatma Buddha from Nepal to India.

Attempts to project the image of the patron of Buddhism

On one hand there are places like Sarnath, Bodh Gaya, Nalanda in India, while there is Lumbini in Nepal too. In this way a complete circuit consisting of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar State and Nepal is formed. India wants to capitalize on this in terms of tourism as well as better relations with Nepal, which in the last few years was also seen moving closer to China. Tibetan Buddhist guru Dalai Lama also lives in Dharamsala, India. From there, the parliament in exile of Tibet also operates. In this way India wants to present itself as the guardian of Buddhism in the world.
