In Nizamabad district of Telangana, a pregnant woman was forced to drink acid by her husband, greedy for dowry. When the wife died, the husband ran away from home.
According to the police, this tragic incident took place on Wednesday in Rajpet Thanda of Varni Mandal. The accused Tarun was married to the deceased Kalyani four years ago. When Kalyani became pregnant three months ago, Tarun started harassing her. He started demanding more money and dowry from his parents.
On Tuesday also there was a dispute between husband and wife regarding the same matter. Meanwhile, Tarun forced Kalyani to drink acid. When Kalyani's condition started deteriorating, the family took her to the government hospital in Nizamabad for treatment. He died on Wednesday. After this, the relatives of Kalyani accused the accused Tarun of torturing her for dowry and forcing her to drink acid.Police have registered a case against the accused under sections 302, 304B and 498A of IPC. Efforts are on to nab the accused.
