Telangana News: A horrific explosion took place in a chemical factory in the Mailaram Phase-1 industrial area near Sangareddy district of Telangana on Monday, June 30, which created panic in the entire area. The incident took place at the Sigachi Industries Limited factory when about 100 workers were on duty there. According to preliminary reports, at least 10 people have died in this blast and more than 20 are injured. The death toll is expected to increase further.The explosion and its horrorAccording to eyewitnesses and workers, the explosion took place in the reactor unit, the echo of which was heard several kilometers away. The explosion was so intense that the industrial shed of the factory was completely blown away. Some workers were thrown up to 100 meters in the air. 11 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire and relief work.Scorched workers, painful sceneIn the video going viral, it can be seen that the scorched workers were seen running out of the factory. Their condition was very serious and many workers died before reaching the hospital. Some of the other injured admitted in the hospital remain in critical condition.What is produced in the factory?Sigachi Industries Limited is a leading pharmaceutical company, which manufactures chemicals such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), intermediates, vitamin-mineral mixtures, and excipients. This company plays an important role in the pharmaceutical industry and its services are spread across the country and abroad.Administration's responseTelangana fire officials said that no body was recovered from the spot so far, but the death of some workers has been confirmed in the hospital. Sangareddy Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj said, "Rescue operations are underway, and the cause of the explosion is being investigated. Initially, short circuit or chemical reaction is being considered as the reason."Investigation and responsibilityGiven the seriousness of the accident, the state government has ordered a high-level investigation. This investigation team will find out whether ignoring safety standards, use of unsuitable chemicals or human negligence caused this tragedy. The management of Sigachi company is also being questioned.
