Tamil Nadu | A surprising case has come to light in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Where, due to power failure, a pregnant woman died during the operation. Vanmati, 22, a resident of Uthupalayam near Annoor, 35 km from Coimbatore, was admitted to the government hospital at Annoor in the district on September 9.

Police said that on September 21, when doctors were performing surgery on the woman in the hospital, suddenly the electricity went out. According to the police, the problem arose due to the generator not working, and the doctors were forced to shift the woman to a private hospital.

Police said that Vanmati gave birth to a boy, who is completely healthy. As her condition deteriorated, she was admitted to another private hospital in nearby Kovilpalayam, he said. But, he died this morning.

Police said an inquiry has been ordered into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of Vanamati's death. Vanamati's family members blamed the government for her death due to power cut during treatment at a private hospital and alleged negligence of doctors. The hospital is held responsible.
