The Punjab government has released Rs 92 crore under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste students. Minister Baljit Kaur informed that Rs 245 crore has been set aside for 2024-25, and the balance amount will be given to the institutions soon.

Bhagwant Mann: The Punjab government has given a big good news for the Scheduled Caste students. Bhagwant Mann's government has released Rs 92 crore from the budget provisions of 2024-25 under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme. This information was given by Punjab Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Minister Baljit Kaur on Saturday. This move will help the Scheduled Caste students of the state in education as well as strengthen their future.

Scholarship of Rs 245 crore for 2024-25

Baljit Kaur said that Rs 245 crore has been set aside for Scheduled Caste students in this year's budget, which will be distributed under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme. Through this scheme, financial assistance is provided to the students for their higher education, so that they can complete their studies despite financial constraints.

Payment of dues

Further, the minister informed that the Punjab government had released Rs 366 crore during the financial year 2023-24 for payment of dues under the scheme for the years 2017-18 to 2019-20. So far, out of these dues, Rs 283.62 crore has been disbursed to 1,008 institutions. She also assured that the remaining institutions which are awaiting payment of dues will be paid soon.

Baljit Kaur said that the Punjab government is constantly working for the interests of the students and they will ensure that all the students get the assistance they deserve.
