New Delhi: Due to heavy rains and landslides for the last few days, life in Assam has come to a complete standstill. According to the report, the situation remains most critical in Nagaon, Hojai and Cachar. According to the Assam State Disaster Management, the death toll due to floods and landslides has risen to 15 and over seven lakh people are affected in 29 districts of the state.

After Assam, now the state of Bihar is in the grip of rain. In Bihar, 33 people died due to lightning and thunderstorm. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced compensation to the families of those killed. In Assam and Bihar as well as in Karnataka, the problem of flood has arisen due to heavy rains at some places. A total of 57 people have died so far due to rain, floods and lightning in Bihar, Assam and Karnataka.

The situation in Kerala has also become worse due to the rains. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 10 districts of the state and has expressed the possibility of heavy rain. On the other hand, Idukki district administration has ordered opening of shutters of Kallarkutty and Pambala dams to release excess water

In 16 districts of Bihar, 33 people have died due to thunderstorm and lightning. The Chief Minister has announced Rs 4 lakh as compensation to the families of those killed. CM Nitish Kumar has appealed to the people to be alert by tweeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condoled this incident in Bihar. PM Modi wrote that it is very sad that many people died due to thunderstorm and lightning in many districts of Bihar. May God give strength to his family members to bear this loss.

On the situation in Assam, the State Disaster Management Authority said that around 3.36 lakh people have been affected in Nagaon, 1.66 lakh people in Kashlar, 1.11 lakh in Hojai and 52,709 in Darrang district due to rain.

A total of four people, including two children, died on Friday after they were submerged in flood waters in Cachar, Lakhimpur and Nagaon districts, according to the news agency.

Farmers have suffered the most due to floods in Assam. Due to floods in the entire state, 80,036.90 hectares of crop land has been completely destroyed. At the same time, 2251 villages have been completely submerged due to the floods.

Heavy rains and landslides triggered by incessant rains over the past few days have devastated the beautiful town of Haflong in Dima Hasao district bordering Assam. Traffic has come to a complete standstill due to the floods.

In order to rescue the people trapped in the floods in Assam, the Air Force has been engaged in continuous rescue work since 15 May 2022. The IAF is using Mi-17 helicopters for relief work.

According to a report, IAF has deployed a total of 20 teams of NDRF to rescue people from the flood-affected areas.

In view of the crisis of rain and flood, the Assam government has started emergency flight service between Silchar and Guwahati to end the problem of movement. For this, each passenger will have to pay Rs 3000.

There is heavy rain in Karnataka too. So far 09 people have died in the state due to rain. Keeping in mind the security, orders have been given to close the schools in many districts.
