Modi stated that Ranveer Singh had personally reached out to meet him. Interestingly, Modi admitted that while he knew Deepika Padukone very well, he wasn't acquainted with Ranveer at the time. He received a call stating that Ranveer wanted to meet him, and the actor subsequently visited him at his residence in London. During this meeting, Ranveer reportedly expressed a deep desire to play the role of Lalit Modi, stating that if there was one character he truly wanted to portray in his career, it was the former IPL boss.
