Tata Group: Lakshadweep is in the news after the visit of the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the subsequent tension with Maldives. Lakshadweep has become a hot spot for tourism in the coming times. In such a situation, Ratan Tata has announced to give a special gift to this island. The group's Indian Hotels company has announced the opening of two Taj-branded resorts in Lakshadweep.

These projects will be completed in the year 2026 and will also be open to the public. These hotels will be developed by IHCL. The special thing is that in January last year, Indian Hotels Company, a subsidiary of Tata Group, had announced the signing of two Taj-branded resorts in Lakshadweep. These hotels will open on Suheli and Kadmat islands in Lakshadweep.

Lakshadweep has suddenly attracted attention after PM Modi shared pictures of the islands and presented them as a tourist destination. Many Indians compared it with Maldives and said that its beaches look better than Maldives. However, the conversation among Indians soon turned to infrastructure in Lakshadweep and whether the islands had enough hotels and resorts to accommodate tourists, whose numbers are expected to increase.

Which are the tourist places?

Announcing the signing of the resorts last year, IHCL MD and CEO Puneet Chatwal had said that we see significant potential in Lakshadweep with its pristine beaches and coral reefs located amidst the Arabian Sea. Two world class Taj resorts will attract international and national tourists. Lakshadweep, a group of 36 islands, has many famous tourist places like Bangaram, Agatti, Kadmath, Minicoy, Kavaratti and Suheli. Kadmat has also emerged as one of the most beautiful diving centers of India.

How will the facilities be in hotels?

The company said, there will be 60 villas and 50 water villas with 110 rooms on Taj Beach in Suheli. The 110-room Taj Hotel in Kadmat will include 75 beach villas and 35 water villas. The company said that it is a paradise for water sports including scuba diving, windsurfing, snorkelling, surfing, water skiing. In his tweet on January 4, PM Modi had said that he was amazed by the stunning beauty of Lakshadweep. He said, apart from the natural beauty, the tranquility of Lakshadweep is also mesmerizing.
