Politics News: Sudhir Sharma, who was among the six Congress rebels, has sent a defamation notice to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Friday. Rebel leader Sudhir Sharma has demanded compensation of Rs 5 crore from CM Sukhu for defamation. Let us tell you that a day before this, CM Sukhu had claimed that 6 rebel Congress MLAs and 3 independent MLAs were sold for Rs 15 crore each. After this statement of Sukhu, Sudhir Sharma has sent this notice.

What did Chief Minister Sukhu say?

It is noteworthy that during a rally in Una district of the state, Sukhu had said on Thursday that the Congress rebels are corrupt and will go behind the bars. He had said that we do not have money, but we have honesty, morality and support of the people. Sukhu had alleged that 6 Congress rebels and 3 independent MLAs were sold for Rs 15 crore each. He had said, "We have evidence, because facts have started coming out in the police investigation and the time has come to teach them a lesson." The Chief Minister made this statement while voting in favor of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha elections of February 27. The complaint was given against 6 Congress MLAs and three independent MLAs. These MLAs later joined BJP.

Congress disqualified 6 rebels

Let us tell you that BJP has given tickets to 6 rebel Congress MLAs from their respective assembly constituencies for the assembly by-elections. Congress had disqualified these six rebel MLAs for being present in the Assembly during voting on the budget proposal and violating the whip for voting in favor of the government. Police had registered an FIR against Rakesh Sharma, father of independent MLA Ashish Sharma (Hamirpur) and Congress rebel Chaitanya Sharma (Gagret), and others on charges of "electoral offences", bribery and criminal conspiracy.

What was written in the defamation notice?

In the notice sent by Sudhir Sharma, former minister and BJP candidate from Dharamshala assembly seat, it was said that the statements and speeches of the Chief Minister are false, derogatory and defamatory, which do not have any facts. He said that these statements have been widely circulated through videos and newspapers, which has damaged his reputation, especially at a time when he is contesting the by-elections. "There is neither an iota of truth in the Chief Minister's speeches nor is there any evidence of the alleged false statements made by him in public," it said. "If immediate and remedial action is not taken by you within a reasonable period, civil and criminal proceedings will be initiated in a competent court for false and malicious propaganda," the notice said.
