Crimea Russia Key Bridge: A bridge connecting Russia to Crimea caught fire on Saturday, after which a part of the bridge collapsed. Russian officials said a bomb placed in a truck on the bridge went off the road, triggering the fire. In the video that surfaced, flames of smoke are seen rising on the bridge. A few hours before the incident, several powerful explosions were carried out in the eastern city of Kharkiv in Ukraine.

Russia's National Counter-Terrorism Committee said the fire also caught fire in the coaches of a cargo train passing through the bridge, and that two sections of the bridge partially collapsed. Traffic has been suspended after this incident.

Traffic halted on the bridge after the explosion

Earlier, RIA-Novosti and Tass news agency quoted local Russian official Oleg Kryuchkov as saying that a fuel storage tank caught fire and that traffic on the bridge had been stopped. He said that the work of extinguishing the fire was going on. Images shared on social media purportedly show damage to the bridge due to the fire. The fire broke out hours after explosions in eastern Ukraine's Kharkiv city early Saturday, sending a plume of smoke into the sky. This fire was seen burning from a long distance.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said on Telegram that the early morning blast was the result of missile strikes in the city centre. He said the blasts caused fire to a medical institute and a non-residential building in the city. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Bridge playing an important role in Russo-Ukraine war

Putin on Wednesday signed documents to illegally claim four regions of Ukraine as Russian territory, including the Zaporizhzhya region, Europe's largest nuclear power plant, during the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. The reactors were shut down last month. Let us inform that in the year 2014, Crimea was annexed by Russia and this bridge was playing a very important role in this ongoing war with Ukraine.
