What is the whole matter?

Actually, Madras High Court had granted bail to these 8 accused last year. After which the matter of getting bail to the accused reached the Supreme Court. This matter was heard in the court on Wednesday and Justice Trivedi gave his decision.

Justice Trivedi said that these PFI members are accused of conspiring against the country and being involved in terrorist activities. He has spent only 1.5 years (one and a half years) in imprisonment. For this reason we are interfering in the High Court's decision to release him on bail.

The eight accused include Idris, Barkatullah, Khalid Mohammed, Mohammed Abuthahir, Syed Ishaq, Khaja Mohideen, Yasser Arafat and Fayyaz Ahmed. The Supreme Court has also directed to expedite the trial in this case.
