Shradh 2022: Pitru Paksha i.e. Shradh is starting from today. On 25 September 2022, Shradh will end with Sarva Pitru Amavasya or Pitru Visarjan. According to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha lasts every year till the full moon date of Bhadrapada and the Pratipada of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. In these 15 days of Pitru Paksha, ancestors are worshiped, tarpan and Pind Daan are done. However, this time Shradh is of 16 days. This time there is a special reason for its being 16 days. We will elaborate on this further.

Recognition of Shradh

Shradh performed on Pitru Paksha is a symbol of true reverence for the ancestors. The ancestors are satisfied by performing Shradh in a proper manner and by being happy, they provide happiness, prosperity and children's happiness etc. It is believed that the Shradh of Pitru Paksha i.e. 16 are such golden days of the year, in which a person can be free from all the three debts, 'Dev loan', 'Sage loan' and 'Pitru loan' by participating in the Shraddha process.

Such a coincidence made after 12 years

According to Pitru Paksha 2022 Sanyog Panchang, this time Pratipada and Poornima Shradh will be together on 10 September 2022 in Pitru Paksha. This time there will be 16 days Shradh. Saptami Shradh will be held on 16th September. Due to the loss of date on September 17, there will be no Shradh for the ancestors on this day. Ashtami Shradh will be done on 18th September. It is believed that on the date of death of the deceased relatives in the Pitru Paksha, by offering Pind Daan, their soul gets peace. If the date is not remembered, then do Shradh on Mahalaya Amavasya (Sarva Pitru Amavasya 2022) also, it gives them satisfaction.
