Test Batting Rankings: ICC has announced the new Test rankings, in which India's young batsman Shubman Gill has overtaken 15 batsmen to take the sixth position. After the first Test match, Gill was at the 21st position, but his brilliant performance on the England tour took him to the sixth position in the rankings. Gill scored a century in the first Test against England, although India lost that match. After this, Gill did wonders in the Edgbaston Test. He scored a total of 430 runs by scoring a double century in the first innings and a century in the second innings. On the basis of this explosive performance, Gill's rating points have gone up to 807, which gave him this jump in the rankings.

Harry Brook achieved the number 1 position

England's young batsman Harry Brook has topped the Test rankings. With 99 runs in the first Test and a brilliant century in the second innings, Brook overtook Joe Root to take the number 1 position. Joe Root could not perform as expected in this series and he has slipped from the first position to the second position.

Performance of other batsmen

Talking about other changes in the rankings, New Zealand's Kane Williamson is third, India's Yashasvi Jaiswal is fourth and Australia's Steve Smith is fifth. South Africa's Temba Bavuma remains at number seven. India's Rishabh Pant performed well in the series, but he has slipped one place to number eight. England's Jamie Smith has also performed brilliantly and made it to the top 10, leaving behind 16 batsmen.

Gill's dream of becoming number 1

Shubman Gill has given a befitting reply to the critics with his bat. Before the England tour, questions were being raised on his technique, but Gill proved his ability with a century and a double century. Gill, who occupies the chair of number 1 batsman in ODI cricket, has the next goal of securing the top position in Test cricket as well. Now the next Test match to be held at Lord's can bring more changes in the rankings. Cricket fans are eyeing how far Gill reaches by maintaining this form.
