Prayer at Amritsar Golden Temple Temple

Devotees were also seen welcoming the New Year with faith and prayers in the Golden Temple of Amritsar. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal along with his wife MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal reached the Golden Temple and offered prayers marking the beginning of the new year. Sukhbir Badal said- "We have come here to Darbar Sahib to pray that the new year becomes a year of happiness for everyone. May the country and Punjab develop."

Crowds seen in temples

A large number of devotees visited the Sabarimala Sri Dharma Sanstha temple in Pathanamthitta on the last day of the year. Shirdi Sai Baba Temple located in Shirdi, Maharashtra also saw a crowd of devotees for worship on the last day of the year. Crowds of devotees are thronging the sacred cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple in Katra. First bath in Ganga-Saryu

The first Ganga Aarti of the year was performed in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh and people took a dip in the holy river. Apart from this, on the first morning of the new year 2024, people took a holy dip in the river Ganga at Har Ki Pauri. Devotees have also taken bath in the Saryu river of Ayodhya on the morning of the New Year.

Celebration in Uttarakhand and Nainital

In various cities of the country including Nainital in Uttarakhand and Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, people have started the New Year 2024 by celebrating by dancing and singing.
