South Africa | There has been a shooting at a bar in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this incident 14 people died and the condition of three others is said to be critical. All the injured have been taken to Chris Hani Bargawanath Hospital. The death toll is expected to rise. It is known that this bar is located in the Soweto Township of Johannesburg.

Police said they are investigating reports that some people came in a minibus taxi late Saturday night and started firing at the bar. Police removed the bodies on Sunday morning and launched an investigation into why the mass shooting took place. Three are critically injured and another person has also been injured.

'Large number of cartridges found at the scene'

Police Commissioner of Gauteng Province, Lieutenant General Ilyas Mawela, said a large number of cartridges were found at the scene. This indicated that it was a group of people who opened fire. "Preliminary investigation suggests that the people present were celebrating at a license-holder bar," Mavela said.

'Random firing at bar'

Mavela said that suddenly these people heard gunshots and tried to get out of the bar. At present, we do not have complete information about what is the motive behind this incident and why these people were targeted. "You can see that 'high caliber' shotguns were used and they were firing randomly. People were struggling to get out of the bar," he said.
