World Cup 2023: ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will be played in India in the month of October-November. Currently, the qualifier matches of the World Cup 2023 are being played in Zimbabwe. A total of 10 teams will participate in the World Cup qualifiers, while through this qualifier two teams will secure their place in the World Cup main round. Between the qualifier matches of the World Cup, Sri Lanka Cricket has suddenly included three players in its team.

3 players included in the Sri Lankan team

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Tuesday announced that Dilshan Madushanka, Dunith Velalej and Sahan Aratchige will be sent to Zimbabwe to join the squad as standby players for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The three players will join their squad on June 23, the day Sri Lanka will take on Oman in their second match. Madushanka and Velazal are international players with a combined experience of 23 matches for Sri Lanka. At the same time, uncapped Arachchige is a top-order left-handed batsman who can contribute with overs of right-arm off break.

Sahan Arachchige, 27, has played nearly eight years in domestic cricket, scoring 1454 runs in 66 List-A matches at an average of 29.67, while also taking 38 wickets. Sri Lanka are looking to strengthen their options after fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera missed the first match due to a shoulder injury. In their opening match, Sri Lanka won over the United Arab Emirates by a huge margin of 175 runs.
