West Bengal News: Mamata government has received a setback from the Supreme Court in the case of cancellation of West Bengal teacher recruitment. The court has refused to stay the order of Calcutta High Court to cancel the recruitment. However, a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud has stayed a part of the High Court order. In this, the High Court had ordered a CBI investigation of all the people involved in creating the posts of teachers.

In fact, the Calcutta High Court had given a big blow to the Mamata government and canceled the teacher recruitment of 2016. Due to this decision, 24 thousand teachers in the state became unemployed. After this the matter reached the Supreme Court. The government had challenged the High Court's decision. The petition of the West Bengal government will now be heard in the Supreme Court next Monday.

Allegation of taking bribe of Rs 5 to 15 lakh

Let us tell you that the Calcutta High Court had canceled the teacher recruitment in the state in 2016. Not only this, teachers who were teaching through illegal appointment were also asked to return their salaries. These recruitments were done by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for different groups. The High Court had canceled the entire job panel of 2016. The panel is accused of taking bribe of Rs 5 to 15 lakh.

In its decision, the bench of Justice Devanshu Basak of Calcutta High Court had canceled all the appointments from classes 9th to 12th and Group C and D in which irregularities were found. Gave four weeks time to return the salary. Also ordered to pay 12 percent interest. For this the court gave 6 weeks time to the district officials.

Many TMC MLAs, leaders and many officials of the education department have been arrested in this case. The then Education Minister Partha Chatterjee was also criticized. He has also been arrested. During the investigation, crores of rupees were recovered from Chatterjee's associates.

This scam is of the year 2014. West Bengal School Service Commission had announced the recruitment of teachers. Its process was started in the year 2016. After this there were complaints of scam. There were allegations that the names of candidates with low marks were at the top of the merit list. Not only this, people who were not in merit were also accused of getting jobs. After this the matter reached the High Court, where Mamata government got a shock. The government approached the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court. Here also the government has suffered a setback.
