BYD Seal 06 EV / Tesla's 'enemy' launched a new car, launched it at 50% cheaper price

Seeing the increasing demand for electric vehicles, BYD has launched its new car Seal 06 EV. This car, which is as big as Tesla Model 3, has a range of 470 to 545 km. The starting price is Rs 13 lakh, which is much lower than Tesla, which may intensify the competition.

BYD Seal 06 EV: The craze for electric vehicles is increasing rapidly all over the world including India. This is the reason why automobile companies are constantly introducing new EV models in the market. In this episode, China's leading electric vehicle manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) has launched another new electric car Seal 06, which gives a direct competition to Tesla Model 3 in terms of size and performance.

As big as Tesla Model 3, half the price

The dimensions of BYD Seal 06 are quite impressive. This car is 4720 mm long, 1880 mm wide and 1495 mm high, making it equal to the Tesla Model 3 in size. But the real attraction is its price - its starting price is only 109,800 yuan (about ₹ 13.06 lakh), while the price of Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at 235,500 yuan (about ₹ 28.02 lakh). This price difference makes it clear that BYD is targeting mid-segment customers through this model and is preparing to put pressure on companies like Tesla.

Battery options and driving range

BYD Seal 06 is offered in two battery options:

  • 46.08kWh variant: Range of 470 kilometers on full charge
  • 56.64kWh variant: Range of 545 kilometers on full charge
  • According to these figures, this car is suitable for both city and highway driving.
Premium features, affordable price

The Seal 06 is positioned as an entry-level EV, yet it offers many premium features:

  • ADAS system (Advanced Driver Assistance)
  • Rotating center infotainment screen
  • Heating/ventilated front seats
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ambient lighting
  • Compact driver display
All these features make it not just an EV but a full-fledged futuristic car.

Market impact and controversy

BYD's aggressive pricing has created a stir in China's auto industry. The China Automobile Manufacturers Association warned the company in May over its decision to cut prices by up to 34%, as it could put pressure on the entire auto industry and lead to a price war.
