On Mahashivratri, a new history will be created in Ujjain, the city of Mahakal. Ujjain city will be illuminated with 21 lakh lamps. There is a plan to get the name of the city registered in the Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records. Earlier there was a plan to light 11 to 15 lakh lamps but now 21 lakh lamps will be lit.

In fact, 12 lakh lamps will be installed on Mahashivratri from the hungry Mata Mandir Ghat of the Shipra River to Ramghat. Three lakh lamps will be installed in different places, houses and establishments. It will take 12,000 volunteers to light the diyas. For this, the responsibility has been given to the District Panchayat, Education Department, Municipal Corporation and Smart City.

Collector Ashish Singh said that earlier there was a plan to install 15 lakh diyas, but considering the way people are participating for the program, the target has been increased further. Social organizations, students and people belonging to other religions have also been included. Committees have been formed. Rehearsal was also done by putting one thousand lamps on the banks of Kshipra. One person can light about a hundred diyas. It is worth noting that before this, Deepotsav was held in Ayodhya. 12 lakh lamps were lit in Ayodhya on the occasion of Diwali.

Diyas will be lit as soon as the siren sounds, 40 lakhs will be spent

12 lakh diyas will be lit at different ghats, 51 thousand diyas in Mahakal temple, one lakh at Freeganj tower, other temples including Mangalnath, Chintaman, Kalbhairav, Bhukhi Mata, Harsiddhi temple will also be lit. It is being claimed that this will be the first time in the world, when 21 lakh lamps will be lit simultaneously and at one time in a city. Officials of Guinness World Records and Limca Book of Records have been approached for the event. Some members of his team will come to Ujjain to see the preparations.

It was told that the oil, earthen lamps and wicks and other expenses for the installation of diyas will come to about 40 lakh rupees. About 1500 cans of oil are likely to be used. A wick of Rs 4 lakh will also come. In the program, all the lamps will be lit together at seven in the evening. Before this the siren will sound and the volunteers will start lighting the lamp. All the lamps will be lit for about an hour. For this, training is also being given to the volunteers.
