Jharkhand News: An incident which has tarnished humanity has come to light from Latehar district of Jharkhand. In this, the hospital staff stopped the delivery of a woman for five hours for Rs 18000 neg. In the end, the family members of the woman removed the earring. After this the delivery was done, but in this time the child had died in the womb itself. After this incident, the relatives of the woman have given a complaint to the police against the accused nursing personnel. Police has registered a case against them.

The case pertains to the Primary Health Center located at Herhanj block headquarters of Latehar district. A Dalit community woman had come here on Saturday for delivery. Here two ANMs (nurses) demanded Rs 18,000 as neg before delivery. When the relatives of the woman expressed their inability to pay this amount, the nurses stopped the delivery. Finally, after about five hours, the relatives took out the earrings of these nurses and gave them. After this the delivery was done. But in this time the child had died in the womb itself. As soon as the relatives came to know about this, there was a ruckus in the hospital. After this, the hospital management swung into action and pacified the people by convincing them.

Woman suffering from pain for five hours

Relatives told that the woman was taken to the hospital after the labor pains started. She was writhing in pain. Despite its greed, the hospital staff stopped her delivery. The relatives told that if the delivery had been done in time, the life of their child would have been saved. On the information of uproar, in-charge medical officer Suresh Ram and BDO Pradeep Kumar Das reached the spot. After talking to the victim's family, he has issued a show cause notice to both the nurses. On the other hand, the police have registered a case on the complaint of the family members.

BJP demands dismissal

The BJP is attacking the Dalit family over this shameful incident in the government hospital. BJP leader and state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev, who reached Herhanj block, has demanded registration of criminal cases against both the ANMs and their immediate dismissal from service. He said that the way the delivery of a Dalit family's daughter was stopped for five hours only for money, it is a very serious matter. He demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter.
