England took the lead, India empty handed

Under the leadership of Ben Stokes, England have collected 12 important points by defeating India by 5 wickets in the Leeds Test. With this, their PCT i.e. points percentage is 100%, which currently keeps them at the top of the WTC points table. India has got zero points and 0% PCT due to defeat.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka draw

The first Test match played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was a draw, giving both the teams 4-4 points. Their PCT is 33.33%. Thus, four teams—England, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka—have played matches in this round so far.

Two more matches are going on

At present, two Test matches are going on - one between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, which is now moving towards its fourth day. At the same time, the second Test is being played between Australia and West Indies, whose two days have been completed. It is expected that these matches will end soon and after this, a big change will be seen in the WTC points table.

India vs England second Test from July 2

The second match of the five-Test series between India and England will start from July 2. But even before that, due to the results of the ongoing Test matches, there can be many upsets in the points table, which can increase further pressure on the Indian team.

How are WTC points decided?

  • According to the WTC rules made by the ICC:
  • The team gets 12 points for winning the match.
  • Both teams get 4-4 points for a draw.
  • In case of a tie, both are given 6-6 points.
  • No points are given for losing.
  • Based on these points, PCT (Points Percentage System) is decided, which determines the position of the team.
