Dubai News: Heavy rains continued in many parts of the UAE from late Monday night to Tuesday morning, after which the situation looked dire. After heavy rains in the capital Dubai, a flood like situation was created. Dubai's streets, houses and malls were flooded. Authorities have issued a warning amid heavy rain. The National Meteorological Center has issued a red alert in many areas of the country and appealed to the people to remain 'vigilant'. The alert has been issued till 6 pm on Wednesday.

Havoc of rain

Apart from Dubai, heavy rains have also wreaked havoc in Oman. 18 people have died here due to rain. Apart from this, flood like situations have arisen in cities like Abu Dhabi and Al Ain after heavy rains. Many major highways and airports were flooded, due to which air traffic has been badly affected. Many people are also reported missing due to heavy rains.

Advice given to people

According to Khaleej Times, the National Meteorological Center has predicted heavy rain in many areas including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah till Wednesday. Ahmed Habib, who works at the National Meteorological Centre, said, "There is a possibility of not only heavy rain but also hailstorm in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other places in the emirate." People have been advised to park their vehicles at safe and elevated places, away from flood prone areas. Due to rain, people have been asked to offer namaz at home instead of mosques. Officials have advised to go out of the house only when necessary.

Water only water, rain increased the problem

Due to heavy rain and storm, water was visible at Dubai International Airport. More than 50 flights have also been cancelled. A Dubai Airports spokesperson said the problem was caused by the severe storm but was now in recovery mode. Dubai Metro's Red Line services have been disrupted due to rain. Many metro stations were flooded. Bus services from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman were also halted. The situation became such that even big shopping centres, Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates were flooded.

School closed

Let us tell you that UAE is a desert country where rain is an unusual phenomenon. Meanwhile, schools have been closed across the UAE due to heavy rains. There is also a possibility of storm along with hailstorm. Some areas of the UAE recorded more than 80 millimeters (3.2 in) of rainfall in a 24-hour period, which is more than the annual average.
