Coronavirus / Thousands of people in MP started doing Kovid test themselves by taking kits from medical shops, where is their record?

Zoom News : Jan 12, 2022, 04:20 PM
There are no less stories of hiding data of Corona in Madhya Pradesh. The latest case is of those who do the Kovid test themselves at home. The government neither has any information about such infected, nor is it ready to add it to its data. Actually, thousands of people are buying Kovid Home Antigen Kit directly from the medical shop. People are doing testing at home with the kit available for Rs 250 to 325. Even if they are found infected, the information of this does not go to the government. There is no system in place to track them.

The records of such buyers are not maintained even at the medical shop. If such unlisted infected keep roaming outside unhindered instead of isolation, then the infection can go to dangerous level in the state. ICMR is calling it the work of the state government, while the local administration is on the contrary that of ICMR. Shocking facts have come to the fore in Bhaskar's investigation.

Bhopal chosen for reality check, 500 tests daily here

Zoom News chose Bhopal to do a reality check on this mix of data. Investigated more than 20 medical shops here. It was revealed that antigen home test kits of three different companies are being sold between Rs 250 to Rs 325. Its demand is such that many medical stores do not have stock. More than 90% of the people who test with such kits do not even inform the government despite coming positive.

Check out the shops in these areas

Arrived at 20 medical shops in Dawa Bazar, Medical Bazar opposite Hamidia Hospital, Shahpura, Char Imli, Shivaji Nagar, Govindpura, Arera Hills and Indira Market. It was learned that most of the residential area's medical stores are receiving this home test kit every day since January 3. The number of people coming from many places to inquire about the use and information of this kit is high.

Medical operators agreed - there is demand

Information was received in the medical stores of Shahpura area that 4-5 such kits are being sold here every day. Lucky Chhabria, the operator of medical stores, said that since last week more than 10 people are inquiring about this kit every day, but now this kit is not there and stockists are also short. Its demand has increased.

This home test kit is available in most of the drug stores in Indira Market. Nitesh Kumar, the operator of the medical shop, said that 4-5 kits are being sold daily from every shop. Those who have the knowledge that testing can be done at home, they are buying. Inquiries about the method of use are also coming. It has been learned that such kits of 3 companies are being sold in Bhopal, whose price ranges from Rs 250 to Rs 325.

Its demand is very less in most of the medicine shops around Hamidia Hospital because, due to the facility of having free corona test in the hospital, there are few people who buy it, but, there are people asking about this kit or sometimes one or two. Kit takers are coming.

Most buyers are those who have symptoms

Dinesh Valecha, secretary of Bhopal Chemist Association said that there are around 400 medicine shops in the city. Now the demand has come. 400-500 kits are being sold daily. Now for Rs 250-325, people are getting information through the kit whether they are positive or not. During interrogation in medical stores, it also came to light that most of the people carrying this kit are those who have shown symptoms related to corona.

How will those who have turned out to be infected be identified?

Around 500 of these home test kits are being sold daily in Bhopal. If on an average 50 or 100 people have come positive in the test of this kit, then how will this list be. People are not giving information about their reports to the government when they come positive. Instructions have been given to download an app in the guide book given inside the pack for using this kit along with the result, but people are not downloading it at all.

Government did not recommend home kit, investigation at centers is free: Health Commissioner

This type of corona test home kit has not been preferred by the Health Department. Now people are doing according to their convenience, so follow the rules that ICMR has made while giving permission. We are not asking for kit test. Antigen and RT-PCR are being done free of cost at health centers. We have not made any rule regarding home kit. Can't even tell how valid his investigation is.
