Lok Sabha Elections: After the announcement of Trinamool Congress to contest alone in the Lok Sabha elections, the dispute between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Congress is increasing. In this series, recently the Bengal administration had refused permission to former Congress President Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' to hold a meeting in Siliguri. BJP leader Amit Malviya said on this issue that Mamata Banerjee's decision of not allowing Rahul's visit is like the last nail in the coffin of INDI Alliance and its purpose is to humiliate Congress.

‘Mamata Banerjee is nervous because…’

Amit Malviya said on social media platform It's like the final nail in the coffin of the Alliance. The purpose of this decision is to humiliate Congress. The pretext that this has been done in view of the examination is a sham. There is no such compulsion as the examinations are starting from 2nd February and the Yatra was to enter Siliguri area on 28th January! Mamata Banerjee is nervous and she is doing all this in the hope that she can contest all the seats in West Bengal so that she can remain relevant after the results are out.

‘Congress is suffering from Stockholm syndrome’

Malviya further said in his tweet, 'But it is interesting to see that Congress is suffering from 'Stockholm Syndrome' and keeps appealing to Mamata Banerjee to join the yatra just for 5 minutes.' Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee had announced on Wednesday that her party will contest the Lok Sabha elections 'alone' in the state. His comment upset the Congress and created a political stir in the opposition alliance 'I.N.D.I.A.' The seat-sharing proposal between Congress and TMC turned sour when Trinamool accused Congress of making unreasonable demands (in number of seats) without accepting the ground reality.

‘We expected better from Bengal government’

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary said that the program of the 'yatra' was submitted to the administration long ago. He said, 'At some places we are facing hurdles as we are not getting permission to organize public meetings citing examinations. The Yatra has faced difficulties in the Northeast including Assam and now it is facing problems in TMC-ruled West Bengal as well. We were not allowed to organize a public meeting in Siliguri. We expected better cooperation from the state government. Anyway, the route and itinerary of the Yatra will remain the same, barring a few changes.
