Sheikh Hasina India Visit: Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of neighboring Bangladesh, is on a four-day visit to India. During this, he held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday afternoon. Discussions were held between the top leaders of the two countries to enhance mutual bilateral cooperation. During this time both the countries have signed seven agreements. The following are these agreements.

1. Agreement on reducing water from Kushiyara river on Indo-Bangladesh border.

2. The officers of Bangladesh Railway will be given training in Indian Railway Training Institutes.

3. India will provide assistance to Bangladesh Railways in the field of information technology. Under this, India will help Bangladesh in enhancing freight management systems and other IT-based capabilities.

4. An agreement was signed between the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and the National Judicial Academy of India for the training of Bangladeshi legal officers in India.

5. Agreement between the Council of Science and Industrial Research of India and Bangladesh.

6. Agreement on cooperation in the field of space between India and Bangladesh.

7. Agreement between Prasar Bharati of India and Bangladesh TV in the field of TV broadcasting.

What did PM Modi say on the agreement?

PM Modi said that Bangladesh is India's biggest development partner. The level of cooperation between the peoples of the two countries is continuously improving. We have agreed to enhance cooperation in IT, space and nuclear energy sectors.

He further said that last year we had organized a rally on the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence and the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said that I am sure that in the next 25 years of Amrit Kaal, our friendship will touch new heights.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that our priority is people's issues, remove poverty and develop economy. He said that I think both of us work together so that people all over South Asia can live their lives in a better way.

The issue of terrorism and extremism also raised

In this meeting of both the Prime Ministers, the issue of increasing terrorism and extremism also came up. PM Modi said that today we have emphasized on cooperation against terrorism and extremism. To keep the spirit of 1971 alive, it is very important that we face such forces together which attack our mutual trust.

There was also talk on river water sharing

India and Bangladesh signed seven agreements after Modi and Hasina's talks, including one related to water sharing of the Kushiyara river that could benefit regions of southern Assam and the Sylhet region of Bangladesh. Modi said 54 rivers pass through the borders of India and Bangladesh and they have been linked to the livelihood of the people of both the countries for centuries.
