Apple IPhone / Trump's threat to Apple ineffective, second iPhone plant starts in India!

Apple has increased iPhone production in India ignoring the pressure from China and America. Foxconn started a new plant in Devanahalli, Bengaluru by investing $2.8 billion. Production of iPhone-17 has started here. With this step, India has moved forward towards becoming a global production hub.

Apple IPhone: Apple has once again ignored global pressures and further expanded its iPhone production in India. Foxconn, the world's largest iPhone manufacturer, has started manufacturing iPhone-17 at its new plant near Bengaluru. This is Foxconn's second major factory in India, in addition to the already operating plant in Chennai. This new plant in Bengaluru has been set up in Devanahalli, where Foxconn has made a huge investment of about $2.8 billion (about Rs 25,000 crore).

This plant is Foxconn's second largest factory outside China. According to a CNBC report, iPhone-17 production has just started on a small scale at the Bengaluru plant, but it is part of Apple's long-term strategy to increase production in India. iPhone-17 is already being produced in Chennai, and now with the start of the new plant in Bengaluru, India is emerging as Apple's global production hub.

Trump's threat has no effect

US President Donald Trump recently pressured Apple CEO Tim Cook to stop production in India. Trump had said in a conversation with Tim Cook during his Qatar visit, "I have a problem with Apple building a plant in India. We want Apple to increase production in the US." Trump had also claimed that after their conversation, Apple would increase its production in the US. However, Apple completely ignored this demand of Trump and further accelerated its investment in India.

This strategy of Apple not only dismisses Trump's threat, but also shows that the company is looking at India as an important hub for its global production. Cheap and skilled labor force in India, as well as the government's "Make in India" initiative, is proving attractive to Apple.

iPhone production target in India: 6 crore units

Apple plans to further increase its production in India. The company has announced that by the end of 2025, iPhone production in India will be increased to 6 crore units. Last year, Apple produced 35 to 40 million iPhones in India, and now aims to increase this number by 50%. Tim Cook said in a recent statement, "Most of the iPhones sold in the US will now be imported from India. India is becoming an important production hub for us." What does this move mean for India? Apple's growing investment in India is not only important from an economic perspective, but it also puts India more firmly on the global technology manufacturing map. Foxconn's Bengaluru plant will create thousands of jobs, boosting the local economy. Also, Apple's growing presence in India can make the country an attractive investment destination for other technology companies.
