Mumbai: Actor Arvind Trivedi, who played Ravana in Ramanand Sagar's highly popular mythological serial 'Ramayan', which aired on Doordarshan in 1987, died of a heart attack on Tuesday night. He was 82 years old and was suffering from age-related ailments for a long time. Due to this he was unable to even walk.

Arvind Trivedi's nephew Kaustubh Trivedi confirmed the death of his uncle Arvind Trivedi over phone to ABP News saying, "Uncle was unwell for the past few years. His health started getting worse for the last 3 years. In such a situation, he had to be admitted to the hospital two-three times. He had returned home once again from the hospital a month ago. He suffered a heart attack on Tuesday night at 9-9.30 pm and returned to his home in Kandivali. He just died."

Giving information to ABP News, Kaustubh Trivedi said that the last rites of his uncle Arvind Trivedi will be performed at Dahanukar Wadi crematorium in Kandivali at 8 am on Wednesday.

Acting career of Arvind Trivedi

In the initial phase, while working in the serial 'Ramayana', Arvind Trivedi did not even realize that due to the popularity of the serial and his character, people would start hating his personality so much as if he was a real Ravana and in real life. Arvind Trivedi, who had acted in hundreds of Gujarati plays and films before working in 'Ramayana', did not even imagine that playing the role of Ravana in 'Ramayana' would make his popularity reach its peak and he was identified with a Gujarati actor. After 'Ramayana', Arvind Trivedi worked in many other Hindi serials and films apart from 'Vikram and Betaal'. But even today he is known for his role of Ravana in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayana'. He acted in more than 300 Gujarati and Hindi films and left a mark of his strong acting in many Gujarati plays.

Let us tell you, after the success of his character of Ravana in 'Ramayana', Arvind Trivedi was given the ticket for the Lok Sabha elections by the BJP. Not only did he contest from Sabarkantha in Gujarat on a BJP ticket, but he also won the election because of the success of the mythological character of Ravana. He was a Lok Sabha MP from 1991 to 1996. Arvind Trivedi's brother Upendra Trivedi was also a well-known actor of Gujarati theater and cinema.
