Shivraj Singh Chauhan: In the midst of the ongoing controversy regarding Ramcharit Manas, the Chief Minister of the state Shivraj Singh Chauhan has made a big announcement. Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said that Hindu religious texts Ramayana, Gita and Mahabharata will be included in the school curriculum of Madhya Pradesh. CM Chouhan said, Ram is the identity of India. He said that our religious texts are capable of educating people morally, so why these texts cannot be taught in schools.

The Chief Minister said, "I am also saying this as the Chief Minister. We have decided to teach the glorious chapters of Ramayana, Gita and Mahabharata in government schools as well." However, this is not the first time that the inclusion of Hindu religious textbooks was announced by the ruling BJP in the past few years. State Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav had said in 2020 that Hindu religious texts would be included in both schools and higher educational institutions.

Initially, a proposal in this regard was first made by the state assembly speaker Girish Gautam and recommended the government to consider his proposal to include Ramayana and Gita in primary school books in Madhya Pradesh. Besides this, Chouhan also announced several developments on Monday at religious places associated with Lord Ram.
