Road Accident In Pakistan / Two horrific road accidents in Pakistan 28 killed 20 passengers burnt to death

Pakistan Road Accident: At least 28 people were killed and 26 were injured in two separate road accidents in Pakistan's Punjab and Sindh provinces on Tuesday. At least 20 people were killed and six others injured when a passenger bus and an oil tanker collided on the Multan-Sukkur highway (M-5) in Punjab province, rescue workers said.

'The passenger bus was going from Lahore to Karachi'

Multan Deputy Commissioner Tahir Wattu said, "A passenger bus was going from Lahore to Karachi and it rammed an oil tanker from behind at Jalalpur Pirwala Interchange near Sukkur. The driver of the bus was asleep due to which the accident happened. " After the collision, both the vehicles caught fire and due to this 20 people died on the spot as they were trapped in the bus, he said.

'The injured are being treated'

According to officials, six passengers who sustained burn injuries in the fire and the bodies have been sent to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan. Medical superintendent of Nishtar hospital Dr Amjad Chandio said DNA test is being done to confirm the identity of the dead and the injured are being treated.

PM Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief

Expressing grief over the accident, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He tweeted, "I am saddened by the news of the loss of 20 lives in the accident. My condolences to the bereaved families."

Second accident, the bus fell into the platoon pit

The second accident took place at Rohri in Sukkur district of Sindh province where a bus overturned and fell into a pothole on the highway. At least eight people, including women and children, were killed and 20 others were injured in the accident. Rohri Highway connects Karachi with the rest of the country.

4 women and 2 children were among the dead

According to rescue personnel, the bus was on its way from Swat to Karachi, and the driver lost control of the bus while making the turn and it overturned and fell into a deep ditch. An official of the Edhi Center, an NGO working in the health sector, said four women and two children were among the dead. The injured were taken to Rohri taluka hospital where a state of emergency was declared.
