UK approves new Vaccine for Omicron variant: Britain has achieved great success in the fight against Corona. The country has approved a booster dose that is effective against both the original corona strain and the Omicron variant. With this, Britain has become the first country to have approved such a vaccine. Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said that it has approved the advanced modern vaccine against the corona virus because it has been found to meet the standards of safety, quality and effectiveness.

Only half dose will effect

The British agency states that one-half (25 micrograms) of each dose of Spikewax Bivalent Original/Omicron, a booster dose, works against the original variant, while the other half targets Omicron. MHRA chief Dr J Raine said he is pleased to announce the approval of a new booster dose that has proven effective in clinical trials against Omicron as well as the 2020 original corona variant.

He said that the first generation of the vaccine being used in Britain provides significant protection against the disease and saves lives. He said that this vaccine, which works against two variants of the virus, is fully expected to help protect people from the disease as the virus is constantly changing its form. The drug regulator said that after a careful review of the evidence, experts supported the decision to approve the booster vaccine in Britain.

Mild dosage side effects

Along with this, it also said on behalf of the organization that its decision is based on clinical trial data showing that the booster modern vaccine was found to be effective against Omicron as well as the 2020 original variant. Apart from this, it was also found to be somewhat effective against Omicron's sub-variants ba.4 and ba.5. The agency said the side effects of the vaccine during the trial were the same as those seen in the original Moderna booster dose and were generally mild.

According to the Daily Mirror report, Moderna's Chief Medical Officer Dr Paul Burton had earlier said that the new vaccine can increase a person's antibodies to such high levels that it may only be needed annually. Now this 'next generation' corona booster vaccine may only need to be administered once a year and it may be allowed to be used on adults.
