Eight candidates in fray from Asansol Lok Sabha seat

While eight candidates are in the fray for the by-election to the Asansol Lok Sabha seat, the main contest is between the Trinamool Congress and its main opposition BJP. Trinamool Congress has fielded Shatrughan Sinha in Asansol against BJP's Agnimitra Paul, who was earlier in BJP and Congress. Babul Supriyo had resigned from the post of Asansol MP after leaving BJP and joining TMC, hence the by-election was necessitated.
