New Delhi: Recently an information has been shared by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that so far more than 200 crore doses of vaccine have been given in the country. These include the first, second and booster doses. However, there is one more figure that may raise the government's concern. Till July 18, about 40 million population of the country had not taken the first dose. Let us also tell you that the central government is running a free vaccination campaign against Corona.

Union Minister of State for Health Bharti Praveen Pawar told the Lok Sabha on Friday, "As of July 18, about 4 crore beneficiaries have not received a single dose of the Kovid vaccine."

Let us tell you that out of the total more than 201 crore doses administered so far, more than 97% have been given the vaccine free of cost at government immunization centers. Recently the central government has also started a 75-day special campaign to give free booster shots to all eligible adults.

So far, a total of about 6.77 crore adults across the country have taken the booster dose. Prior to this special drive, precautionary doses were available free of cost to health workers (HCWs), front-line workers (FLWs) and all beneficiaries above 60 years of age at Government COVID Vaccination Centers (CVCs) from March 16 this year.

A special 75-day campaign to provide preventive doses to all those aged 18 years and above at government immunization centers began on July 15. The campaign 'Covid Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav' aims to promote precautionary doses of COVID among the eligible population. Organized as part of the government's 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence.

According to health ministry officials, 98% of India's adult population has received at least one dose of the COVID-vaccine.
