Joe Biden Statement: The statement given by US President Biden linking the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor with the Israel-Hamas war has given rise to a new debate. Biden does not have evidence for this, but there is truth behind the arguments he has given. Two countries, China and Egypt, are going to suffer the most from this corridor, while America will also be able to ease its access to Asia by working with the Middle East.

There is a lot of meaning behind the statement given by Biden, because the India-Europe Economic Corridor is becoming a thorn in the neck for many non-state actors in the Middle East. Due to this, China's One Belt, One Road is getting a direct competition, while Israel and Saudi Arabia are benefiting. At the same time, the world's dependence on the Suez Canal will reduce and the big Gulf countries will unite and work with India and America.

China's influence has to be ended

China started a project named One Belt One Road in 2013, which is now known as Belt and Road Initiative. Through this, China wants to connect Asia with Europe and Africa through railways, roads, ports and airports. With this he also wants to eliminate America's influence from the world. India has also been opposing this project from the beginning and many countries of the world are also worried about BRI. These countries have been opposing this Chinese project since the beginning and recently, during the G20 in India, an announcement was made to sabotage BRI.

India, the United States, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, the European Union, France, Italy, Germany, Jordan and Israel together surprised China by announcing the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. This project is being seen as a cut of BRI. The existing sea and road transport routes will be connected through a rail network under the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. In this way, it will provide an easy way to increase trade between many countries. This corridor will be divided into two parts, in which the first will be the Eastern Corridor connecting India with the Gulf countries and the second will be the Northern Corridor connecting the Gulf region with Europe. This corridor also includes plans to lay electricity cables and clean hydrogen pipelines through the rail route passing through the Middle East. In a way, this corridor can also prove helpful in bringing about transformational integration of Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Why is this corridor a challenge for China?

Actually, this economic corridor is part of an initiative called PGII (partnership for global infrastructure and investment). PGII is a collaborative initiative of the G7 countries to finance infrastructure projects in developing countries. Its purpose is to help accelerate sustainable development progress at the global level. However, it is also being seen as a counter to China's BRI project. Therefore, experts believe that India, America and other countries want to counter China's BRI through this India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

The objective of both China's BRE and India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor is the same, because both projects aim to connect Asia with Europe and Africa. The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor project seems to be progressing positively and this is troubling China. This is also because Italy was the only European country to join the BRI project in 2019, but they have also talked about joining the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor during the G20. Along with this, Italy has indicated that it may also withdraw from BRI. However, he is looking for a way out of BRI without damaging his relations with China. America is also pressurizing Italy to leave BRI.

Along with this, there is a plan to include other countries in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, in which African countries can also be included. By giving permanent membership to the African Union in the G20, China has been given a symbolic challenge in this region. At the same time, India was also not a part of BRI.

Egypt will also suffer losses

According to experts, Egypt will have to suffer huge losses due to the construction of this corridor, because its construction will reduce the freight traffic passing through the Suez Canal and there is a possibility of a huge decline in Egypt's earnings. Only 10 percent of the world's oil and 7 percent of its oil passes through the Suez Canal. At present Egypt controls the Suez Canal, hence the Suez Canal is very important in delivering goods to Europe. Because this canal connects Asia to Europe. Of all the oil traded across the world, 7 percent of it is done through this canal. It is estimated that more than 50 ships pass through the Suez Canal every day.

Turkey also opposes India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Turkish President Erdogan has said that many countries are trying to expand their sphere of influence by creating Red Corridors. He also said that it is not possible to build any corridor without Turkey. Although Russia has supported this corridor.

Iran will also suffer loss. Iran is likely to suffer the most loss from the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Iran is currently a major trade hub between the Middle East and Europe. With the completion of BMECEC, Iran's trade routes will face competition, which may reduce its trade income. Iran's competitor Saudi Arabia will benefit from its construction.

The United Arab Emirates, Oman and the UAE will work together in this project, which will help all these countries promote economic growth and prosperity. At the same time, member countries can work together for each other's security. This will help promote regional stability.
