Pakistan Election: India's neighboring country Pakistan is currently struggling with its economic situation. General elections are to be held in Pakistan on February 8, in such a situation the country needs a political consensus and a strong government working without military interference to deal with international and domestic challenges. Before the elections to be held in the country, glimpses of the elections of 2018 have started appearing.

In July 2018, just two weeks before the elections in Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to two years in prison in a corruption case due to his name appearing in the Panama Papers. Apart from this, he was sentenced to 10 years in jail in the Avenfield case. This matter was discussed all over the world and the political innings of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came to an end, but after this, Nawaz not only made a comeback in Pakistani politics but also emerged as a strong contender to become the Prime Minister for the fourth time in the elections to be held in 2024. At the same time, just before the elections in 2024, the country's former Prime Minister Imran Khan has also been jailed in the Sifar and Toshakhana case. In May 2023, Imran was arrested in the Qadir Trust case.

Reminding me of 2018

When Nawaz Sharif fell in Pakistan in 2018, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party chief Imran Khan rose in politics. Imran Khan formed the government by winning the 2018 elections. Elections are going to be held again in the country after six years, in which the fortunes of the former Prime Minister have changed.

On January 30, just a few days before the elections, a special court of Pakistan sentenced both former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to 10 years in jail in the cipher case. A day later, on January 31, Imran and his wife were sentenced to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana case for misusing the gift they received from the Saudi Crown Prince as Prime Minister. Due to corruption case, Imran cannot contest the elections to be held on February 8. The Election Commission has also confiscated the bat, the election symbol of Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. At present Imran is lodged in Attock jail of Rawalpindi. In such a situation, this whole incident is reminding us of 2018.

There is a possibility of return

For Imran Khan, it is being said that this is the end of his political career. Although the same was said about Nawaz Sharif in 2018, but in Pakistan, no one's political innings ends until his breath stops. The biggest example of this is Nawaz Sharif. After securing majority in the floor test in 2022, Nawaz's brother Shahbaz formed the government in Pakistan. After this, Nawaz Sharif got bail in the Toshakhana case in October 2023, after which he made a surprising comeback in politics. In such a situation, if Imran's party wins the elections this time, there is a possibility of Imran Khan also returning to politics.
