Kathmandu: International Yoga Day 2021 was celebrated across the world on Monday. Meanwhile, Nepal's Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli claimed that yoga did not originate in India, but in his country. Oli also reiterated his controversial claim that Lord Rama was born in Nepal.

'Yoga originated around Nepal or Uttarakhand'

Nepal's Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli in his address on International Yoga Day said, Long before the existence of India as a nation, Yoga was and continues to be practiced in Nepal. He said, Yoga did not originate in India. When Yoga was discovered, India was not formed. There was no country like India because Nepal had many frontier states at the time of yoga's practice. So yoga originated around Nepal or Uttarakhand.

'Indian Prime Minister made famous'

Oli said that we never gave credit to our sages who discovered yoga. We always talked about this or that professor and his contribution. "We could not put our claim properly," he said. We couldn't take it around the world. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it famous by proposing to celebrate International Yoga Day on the longest day of the year. Then it got international recognition.

Controversial rhetoric was made earlier also

Oli has made controversial statements in the past as well. He had earlier sparked controversy by saying that Lord Rama was not born in Ayodhya, India, but in the Madi region known as Ayodhyapuri in Chitwan district of Nepal. He ordered the construction of huge temples of Lord Rama, Mata Sita, Lakshmana and others and he stood by his claims. He said, Ayodhyapuri is in Nepal. Valmiki Ashram is also located near Ayodhyapuri in Nepal. Sita Mata died in Devghat, which is close to Ayodhyapuri and Valmiki Ashram in Nepal.

'Research on Ayurveda done in Nepal'

Oli also said that Nepal is the land of famous sages and sages like Patanjali, Kapilmuni, Charak. The Nepalese Prime Minister claimed that many other saints were born in Nepal, who studied and researched Ayurveda for centuries. He said, Himalayan herbs cannot be studied from Banaras (Varanasi). He claimed that he was later taken to Varanasi after researching different types of herbs in the Himalayas.

'New history will have to be rewritten'

Oli said, famous saints like Vishwamitra were born in Nepal, they developed many mantras in our land. He said that it was the same sage Vishwamitra who had imparted various types of education to Lord Rama and Lakshmana in Nepal in ancient times. All these historical and religious facts were distorted in history, Oli insisted, but they need to be corrected. We have to rewrite history. We should not hesitate to speak the truth, because we know the facts and history. No one can distort or distort history and civilization.
